About Chocolate

We love using local ingredients when we cook, and that includes our Rocky Road. But chocolate doesn't grow in these parts...

So we were delighted to discover Grain de Sail. This Breton company has gone back to the days of old, shipping fair trade cocoa beans from the Caribbean by sailing boat, then shipping sustainable products from France to the US, where they collect humanitarian supplies for the journey back southwards.

They prepare their chocolate in a factory in Morlaix - about 40 minutes from Huelgoat - and package it in environmentally friendly cardboard - easily recyclable, with no metal waste.

The best part is that it tastes really good, because it's chocolate!

Hopefully their factory tour will be opening again in 2020, and we'd love it if your visit included a visit there.

Morlaix is an historic town in it's own right, close to beaches and well worth a vist.
